Vera Francis Obituary
HAVELOCK - Vera Gertrude Francis, 91, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing Center, Havelock.
She was born in Fayetteville and lived her early years in St. Pauls. The family relocated to Durham where she graduated from Hillside High School and attended North Carolina College at Durham; graduating from the National Institute of Practical Nursing, Washington, D.C. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. and was honored as Mother of Year.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at New Bethel Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. Burial will be in the Daniels Chapel Community Cemetery Enfield, N.C.
She is survived by one son, the Rev. Willis W. Francis Jr. of Havelock; two daughters, Vera F. Turner of Durham and Renee D. Francis of Indian Head, Md.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Currie.
