NEW BERN, N.C. - Mrs. Alice Juanita "Nita" Mazyck Woodard, 95, died Thursday, April 19, 2012. A native of Charleston, S.C., Nita was a very active volunteer with the soup kitchen, hospice, AARP, and Oaks Road Elementary School. She was an active member of the YMCA, until recent years and was active with Riverdale United Methodist Church and Pamlico United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Pamlico UMC with the Rev. Ed Armstrong and Pastor Mike Roach officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. Nita is survived by her daughters, Donna W. Jarman, of New Bern, N.C.; Joan W. Barnett, and husband Malcolm, of New Bern, N.C.; Nancy W. Edwards, and husband Buddy, of Norcross, Ga.; son, Roland Woodard, Jr., and wife Barbara of Florence, S.C.; her sister, Ida Mae Mazyck, of Charleston, S.C.; and her brother, William Edward Mazyck, and wife Lois, of Charleston, S.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rosanna Lee Lukas and husband Chris, of Jacksonville, N.C.; Joby Edwards, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Michael Lee Barnett, and wife Tammy, of Pollocksville, N.C.; David Lee Barnett, and wife Cindy, of Trenton, N.C.; Rick Woodard, and wife Jeanne, of Wilmington, N.C.; David Woodard and wife Shasta, of Charlotte, N.C.; Cynthia Woodard, of Atlanta, Ga.; Laurie Woodard, of Florence, S.C.; and her great-grandchildren Kaden, Kyle, Kristina, Allen, Brandon, Tyler, Patrick, Justin, and Ryan.
