VANCEBORO - Mr. Archie Morris, 94, died Saturday, September 28, 2013.

The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 pm in the Tabernacle Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Morris, a native of Craven County, had lived his whole life in the Piney Neck community. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. For most of his life he had been involved in carpentry work and was proud of his work at River Bend in New Bern. He was a member of the Vanceboro Hunting Club and a charter member of the Tabernacle Holiness Church.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Minnie Morris; daughter, Frances Morris Hudson; and son, Linwood A. "Bud" Morris.

Surviving are his daughter, Connie M. Lilly and husband, James; daughter in-law, Brenda Morris, all of Vanceboro; grandchildren, Virgil Hudson and wife, Rose, Rex and Brent Lilly, Alesia Midgette and husband, Johnny, Travis Morris, and Troy Morris; great-grandchildren, Noah, Jacob and Luke Lilly, Emily and Chelsea Midgette, Matthew, Montana and George Morris; and two step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
