MARIETTA, Ga. - Carol Laughinghouse Norris, 64, a true friend and inspiration, passed away August 29th, 2013 after a long illness.

She helped friends and family in need just by being her. Carol always asked, "How Are You?" with more meaning than most capture in paragraphs. When Carol engaged with you, you were the only person in the room, and she always put her problems aside to help you with yours. She was a Mom to the motherless and a friend to all.

While she struggled most of her life with illness and experienced multiple near death encounters, she always fought back and triumphed over most everything. She overcame cancer, confinement to a wheelchair, and other health issues. In the 1990's, she even moved into her own apartment and regained her driver's license after being unable to drive for 10 years! She never gave up.

Survivors include her son, Glenn Heath of Atlanta, Ga.; sister Connie Nelson of Wilmington, N.C.; brother Billy Laughinghouse of New Bern, N.C.; and nephew Kevin Michael Riggs of New Bern, N.C.

The memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. at 334 Mark Ave., Marietta, GA 30066.
