NEW BERN - Clarence D. Simpson, 81, died May 13, 2013 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
He was a member of Rhems United Methodist Church and he served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was a founding member of Rhems Vol. Fire Department and he served as a Fire Commissioner for the Rhems Fire District.
He was survived by his wife, Eva B. Simpson; two daughters, Judy Toler and husband Joe and Connie Cherry and husband Keith, all of New Bern; one brother, Durwood Simpson of Maryland; two sisters, Sadie Paul of the Silver Hill community; Verna Mae Miller of South Carolina; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
