NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Daniel Britt Reeder entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2013.
Mr. Reeder was born on November 1, 1931, in Barbour County, Clio, Alabama. He was the son of the late Albert Beamon and Aulsie Ellen Reeder. He retired from the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Air Force Rifle Marksman Team. He worked with Northrop Corporation in Saudi Arabia and retired from Civil Service at Marine Corp Air Station in Havelock, North Carolina. Mr. Reeder was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Havelock, NC, serving as Clerk of the Session, Elder, Deacon, and sang in the church choir. Recently, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Margaret (Penny); two daughters, Carolyn Phillips (James) of Kingsport, TN, and Nancy Torcivia (Dominic) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren whom he loved dearly and enjoyed to the fullest, Heather Griffin, of Miami, FL, Rebecca Reed (Benjamin) of Ponte Vedra, FL, Daniel Phillips of Knoxville, TN, Stephanie Torcivia of New York, NY, and Theadora Torcivia of Charlotte, NC. Mr. Reeder was also survived by a brother, Joe Reeder (Mary) of Albany, GA, and was preceded in death by siblings Ruth Gulledge, Norene Braswell, Margarette Sori, Mary Lou Parmer, Doris Braswell, Dorothy Reeder and Vandiver Reeder. He also has numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Stephen Grubb and his staff, and the staff of Beacon Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, at Lee Funeral Home in Little River, SC. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
