FAIRFIELD HARBOUR - David B. Cella, 74, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 19, 2012 after a sixteen year battle with cancer. David was the son of Edward and Amelia Cella and was born in New York, NY.

He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He had worked with Western Electric in New York and Anagraphics in New York, and was employed for GTE Verizon in St. Petersburg, FL. He was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron, Old Field Point Power Squadron, Coast Guard Auxiliary of Long Island in Port Jefferson. He was also past commodore of Port Jefferson Yacht Club, a member of Fairfield Harbor Yacht Club. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ilse Engel Cella and loving sons, Marc and Brian of Boston, MA.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ted Rust officiating. A reception will follow in Weeks Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Craven County Home Health Hospice, P. O. Drawer 12610, New Bern, NC 28561 or St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1605 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, NC 28560.
