March 24, 1927 to September 30, 2018
Donald Glenn Miller, a son of missionaries, was born in India to Earnest and Ruth Miller on March 24, 1927. His formal education was completed through Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia. With care and dedication, he was the family doctor in Middlebury, Indiana. Donald was a founding member of Emergency Room Physicians in Elkhart County, Indiana. He saw a need for emergency room medicine and helped create one of the first emergency room systems in Indiana. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Mary Lois, sold their home and moved aboard a 37-foot sailboat. This was their home for 10 years. Five and a half of those years were spent sailing around the world. On their final stretch across the Atlantic Ocean, the familiar shores of the US returned and they found the perfect place to build a home on solid ground in Fairfield Harbour, NC.
Here, close to family once more, time was spent with daughter Linda and her husband Paul; oldest son Dale and his wife Linda; son Tom and his wife Alie; and youngest son Steve and his wife Linda. Sharing the good times were six grandchildren: Natasha, Michelle, Charlie, John, Lindsey, and Amanda, with great granddaughter Daisy adding her bubble of joy.
Don, your journey on Earth is complete. It is the friends and names, those times and places, the stuff of memories you have given us, which we treasure. We go in peace embraced with your love.
