NEW BERN - Elizabeth Heller Amis, 99, departed this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at her residence. She was the daughter of John Charles and Herma Hoke Heller of Baltimore, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Joseph Blackwell Amis whom owned and operated Western Auto Supply and Amis Auto Supply stores in New Bern and Havelock.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by two nieces, Deborah Heller of Little Rock, Ark. and Clara Podlaseck of Spring Grove, Pa. Also surviving are her adoptive family from New Bern including, Bruce and Liza Ingram; Trudy and Tommy Williams; Paul Ingram; and Louis and Linda Ingram of Danville, Va. Adoptive grandchildren from New Bern including, Katie Beth and Will Ingram; Rickey Ringer; Mistey Lewis; Ashley Williams; and adoptive great-grandchild, Eli Lewis, as well as her two cats, Tinker and Charlie.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011, at Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park with the Rev. Ray Griffin officiating with entombment following. The family will receive friends after the service.
