Emma Marie Moore


NEW BERN - Emma Marie Moore, 70, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at UniHealth Care-Trent.

She was a native of Jones County and 1960 graduate of Jones High School.

She was as a Worship and Praise Team leader at God's City of Refuge, community soloist and choir member. She was formerly employed as a greeter at Walmart.

Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at God's City of Refuge with Willie Murray, pastor and the Rev. Vera Murray, co-pastor. Burial will follow in God's City of Refuge Cemetery.

She is survived by her one son, Jeffrey Staten of Germany; four daughters, Pamela Fonville of New Bern, Letitia Bumbrey of Manassas, Va., Courtney Legins of Winston-Salem, and JoQuita Moore of New Bern; four brothers, William Frank Henderson of Cove City, the Rev. Johnnie P. Henderson of Kannapolis, Pastel M. Payton Sr. of Washington, D.C., and Wright A. Payton of New Bern; two sisters, Ernestine Moore and Marjorie Wright, both of New Bern; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Ernestine Moore. 516 Watson Avenue.

Viewing hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, and 9 to 2 p.m. Saturday, at Oscar's Mortuary.
