HAVELOCK - Evelyn Eubanks Book, 80, of Havelock, went home to be with The Lord on Friday, December 21, 2012. A loving mother and sister, she was a friend to many. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with friends and family, especially with her VFW buddies. Evelyn was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Leslie Lewis Post # 7315.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Croatan Church of Christ 4115 Old Cherry Point Road, New Bern, N.C. with preacher Craig Hearne officiating. She will be laid to rest with her deceased husband at the New Bern National Cemetery at a later date.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Tommy D. Book and wife, Becky, of New Bern; brother, Virgil L. Eubanks of Kinston; and sisters, Elizabeth Winfrey of Norfolk, Va., and Rachel Greer of Hendersonville, Tenn.; thirteen nieces and nephews; extended family Nita Gibbs of High Point and Greg and Starr Murphy of Minnesott Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Thornton and Mary Waters Eubanks, and her husband, CWO3 USMC (Ret) Donald R. Book; one sister, Ada Williams and four brothers Guy E. Eubanks, Edward V. Eubanks, Elbert R. Eubanks and Guy T. Eubanks Jr.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening after the memorial at 17 Central St. Havelock, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Leslie Lewis Post # 7315, 120 Lynnwayne Circle, Havelock, NC 28532.

Tom and Becky would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the kind and caring staff of Cherry Point Bay nursing home and Mom's friends and neighbors for all of the compassionate and attentive care given to her during her illness.
