VANCEBORO - Jack Horace Strickland Jr., 54, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Meridian, Miss.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Friends and family are welcome to speak at the service. We encourage all friends to ride their motorcycles. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens.

Jack served on the New Bern Police Dept. from Aug 1989 to Dec 1999 when he resigned to open his own business, Auto Tech. Jack later traveled as a precision millwright worker. He was a former Mason and Blue Knights member.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Lois Strickland Sr.

He is survived by his son, Jack H Strickland III; his three grandchildren, Alyssa, Tyler, Riley; a very special friend, Cheryl Dillon and her children, Anthony and Dominic; wife, Linda Strickland and her two children, Donald and Michelle; six grandchildren, Jessica, Lathan, Stephen, David, Jaclyn, and Shelby Lilly; sister, Lyndall Faye Beaver and husband, Charlie, of Texas; and a special niece, Nicole Sanchez and her daughter, Amy Cox.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
