NEW BERN - Mr. James Wade Civils, 73, of New Bern, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 17, 2013. He was a graduate of Jasper High School and had worked as a carpenter for 35 years and as a paper carrier with the Sun Journal for 24 years.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the New Bern Church of God with Dr. David Salmons officiating. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen E. Civils of New Bern; one son, James A. Civils and wife Shirley of New Bern; one sister, Peggy C. Small and husband Pete of Cove City; three grandsons, James A. Civils II, Timothy B. Civils and Jon A. Civils, all of New Bern; two granddaughters, Shaina Civils of Pollocksville and Jasmine Civils of New Bern; one great-grandson on the way; and two nephews, Wesley Small and wife Christine of New Bern and Robert "Bobby" Small and wife Ann of Cove City.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. For those considering memorial contributions, the family suggests they be made to the Craven County Health Dept. Foundation (for Hospice), P.O. Drawer 12610, New Bern, NC 28561.
