NEW BERN - JB Ellis, 64, of New Bern, passed away March 17, 2013, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

JB is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna Moore Ellis; three sons, Chris Ellis and wife Cheryl of Appomattox, Va., Mike Ellis of New Bern, and David Ellis of Bellevue, Wash.; two brothers, Pete Ellis of Ernul and John Ellis of Vanceboro; three sisters, Sylvia Jones of Richmond, Va., Vivian Fornes of Ernul, and Tiny Shine of W. Columbia, S.C.; and two grandsons, Matthew and Joshua Ellis.

He served our country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service most of his life, and he was a minister for many years. He was a member of Pleasant Acres FWB Church. JB was a Duke, NY Yankees and Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoyed golf, history, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Ellis, two brothers, Leland and Linwood Ellis, a sister, Lois Ellis and a granddaughter, Amanda Ellis.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Cotten Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Coghill and the Rev. Kenneth Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
