NEW BERN - Joan I. Rolenc Bottcher, 75, 4300 Elizabeth Ave. died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at her residence.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she served on many ministries and services. She was most proud of working with Eastern Pregnancy Information Center, helping those in crisis pregnancy keep their babies. She was a member of the Come Home Program, The Senior Pharmacy Program-Advisory Council, Religious Community Services feeding the needy, Secretary for the New Bern Chamber of Commerce's Non-Profit Council representing St. Paul and worked on the 2005 Church Directory. Joan was a vender at the Farmer's Market as owner of JoNeeB Impressions.
Joan was a former council person in Franklin Township, Somerset, NJ. She was elected to the Council on July 1, 1981 to a 4-year term. In 1996, Joan was elected for another 4-year term. Joan was Deputy Mayor in 1997 and became Mayor in 1998. She enjoyed working for the people of her community.
Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Theresa Cruz of Piscataway, NJ, Dorothy Nordmeyer of Nazareth, PA, Christina Dunbar of Hillsborough, NJ and Julee Bottcher of Monmouth Beach, NJ; eight grandchildren; her twin sister, Jean McGarry of Woodbrige, VA; sisters, Anita Reid of Carrollton, GA, Michaelene Meyer of Manassas, VA and Bridget Rolenc of Omaha, NE; brothers, Edward Rolenc of Iowa and Daniel Rolenc of Colorado.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Oscar's Mortuary followed by The Rosary at 7 p.m.
