JACKSONVILLE - Joseph "Joe" Etheridge, 74, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn S. Etheridge; his daughter, Kimberly Fleatherstone of Jacksonville; two sons, Joseph Randy Etheridge of Santa Monica, Calif. and Jeffrey Keith Etheridge of Jacksonville; and four granddaughters.
He started his career with Carolina Telephone in 1956 and retired from sprint in 1997 after 41 years of service. He organized and taught the first Cable Splicers Training Class. He began his career with a roving crew in New Bern and was later stationed in Kinston and Jacksonville.
His funeral will be Sunday at 3 pm at Brookwood Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, at Brookwood Baptist Church.
