BACHELOR - Lula Epperson Taylor, 97, of the Bachelor community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.
Her funeral service is Tuesday at noon at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Benjamin Sims officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Taylor was born to the late John and Ethel Epperson on Jan. 31, 1916, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was a longtime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where she directed the choir and played the organ for many years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Ilene Harris of Bachelor; son, Leon Denson Harris and wife Debbie of Virginia Beach, Va.; step-sons, Ed H. Taylor and wife Carolyn of Newport and William A. Taylor and wife Carol of Morehead City; brothers, Ray Epperson and wife Jimmie of Grenada, Miss., Sidney Epperson and wife Frances of Gastonia and John Epperson of Pensacola, Fla.; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, W. Leon Harris, and second husband, William H. Taylor.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday.
