Manley Pollock "Polly" DeBruhl, 93, passed away on Sunday, December 15, at his residence on Simmons Loop Road. A life-long resident of Jones County, Mr. DeBruhl served in the U.S. Army during World War II and following his discharge from the Army returned to the family farm in Jones County. Following his retirement from the N.C. Department of Transportation, he enjoyed his garden, his church and his family.

Son of Joel P. and Bessie Mercer DeBruhl, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters, including his twin sister Margaret, who passed away earlier this year. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Jean Kellum DeBruhl, his daughter Marilyn "Jody" White (Doug) and granddaughter Melissa Clay and sixteen nieces and nephews.

An active member of Rhems United Methodist Church, he faithfully attended worship services until a few weeks prior to his death.

There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, December 17, at 3:00 P.M., at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jones County, conducted by the Reverend Connie Stutts, the family pastor. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Rhems United Methodist Church, c/o Jody White, 738 Simmons Loop Road, New Bern, NC 28562.
