SANDY, Utah - Robert Earl Doolittle, Sr., born October 2, 1920 in Muncie, IN, passed on Nov. 23, 2012 in Sandy, Utah.

Robert is survived by daughter, Julia Codell (Richard) of Sandy, UT, son, Robert Jr. (Shannon) of Virginia Beach, VA. and sister, Nada Stautamoyer, of Muncie, IN. Robert has joined his wife, Helen of 71 years, daughter Linda and son Greg who predeceased him. Robert and Helen had 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Robert grew up in Muncie, IN the son of Earl and Thelma Doolittle. He was stricken with polio early in life, which kept him from serving in the war but did not limit his life in any other way. He met Helen in High School (Muncie Central) and they married in 1941. Robert became a retail jeweler, managing and eventually owning his own business in Kinston. He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, an active Rotarian and Mason. He was known for his love of golf and fishing. Even in his 80's he was scoring below his age.

He will be missed by family and friends from all over the country from Virginia to Utah and beyond. The family wishes to thank all the individuals who cared for Robert in the past months. He was a challenging patient but quite unforgettable, making a lasting impression on all who knew him.
