NEW BERN - Robert Patrick Flanagan Sr., 75, passed at home in peace and love surrounded by his family, November 6, 2012.
Robert was active in his community and church, with a life dedicated to service to others. He gave to his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Coast Guard Auxillary, Medic 17 Rescue, Train Club, Knights Of Columbus, DAV in New York and North Carolina, and the Fishing Club at Fairfield Harbor. He is preceded in death by two siblings, Edward and Margaret and one great-grandson, Thomas.
Robert is survived by his wife Kathleen; three sons, Robert Flanagan Jr., and wife Gayann of Sparrow Bush, N.Y., John Flanagan and wife Jennie of Manalapan, N.J., Thom Flanagan of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Catherine Lenihan and husband John of Harrington Park, N.J. and Margaret Iadeluca and husband Fabio of Rutherford, N.J.; one brother, James Flanagan and wife Virginia of Washingtonville, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Major Tadd Turczyn and wife Laura, Sharyn and husband Tony, Sean, Patrick, Nicholas, John, Gabi, Mario, Alessandra and Gabrielle; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Tadd Jason, Ilya, Fintan and Loughlin.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012, at Cotten Funeral Home. Burial will be held in New York.
