She was born on Feb. 25, 1925, in Conway, S.C., but lived most of her life in Oriental, N.C., and New Bern, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William I. Gause, and her mother, Lena Mae Simmons. She and Dr. Gause were charter members of Vida Grantham Order of the Eastern Star # 348. They were also charter members of the Order of the Amaranth at the York Rite Temple.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Broughton Woodard, and her husband, Robert, of Fort Mill, S.C.; two sons, J. David Broughton and his wife, Debra, of New Bern, N.C., and Ravon C. Broughton and his wife, Rose, of Panama City,Fla. She has nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, with Pastor Randy Fields officiating at Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Bern.
The family will receive friends following the services.
