YONKERS, N.Y. -Sylvester Carter, 86, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012.A native of the Harlowe Community of Havelock, he resided in Yonkers for more than seventy years. He retired as an electrician and later owned a trucking company. He was an ordained elder in the Church of God.
His funeral will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at Community Baptist Church, 156 North Broadway, Yonkers, N.Y.
The interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.
He is survived by his son, Calvin Carter of Yonkers, N.Y.; one daughter, Berthelma Hill of Georgia and one sister, Inell Carter of Yonkers, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The wake will be Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Community Baptist Church.
