PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Theresa Anne (Tobiasz) Wade, 60, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 1, 2013.
She was born in Ware, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Joseph Tobiasz and his wife, Jennie Tobiasz, who presently resides in Palmer, Massachusetts. She attended Ware Public Schools and graduated from Ware High School, class of 1969. In 1970, after high school, she enlisted in the United States Navy, serving 2 years and receiving several recommendations. After an honorable discharge in 1972, she went on to graduate from Carteret Technical College in North Carolina in 1981 earning a degree in business. For the next 25 years she worked in the insurance industry, retiring in 2008.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 25 years, William Wade of Portsmouth, Virginia; her beloved son, Johnnie Pippin Jr., his wife, Betsy, and granddaughter Ellie, whom she adored and bestowed with lots of love, all from Smithfield, North Carolina. She also leaves 2 sisters, Emily Hall of West Springfield, Massachusetts and Mary Midura of Ware, Massachusetts. Lastly, Theresa leaves behind her mother, Jennie Tobiasz as well as several nieces and nephews. Also missing Theresa is her little dog, Annie, her constant companion at home the past several years. She also leaves behind her husband Bill's family, who treated her as if she were their daughter. Bill's family is Donald and Joyce Wade, father and mother; his sisters, Julie, Cindy, and Tina; brother, Steve and wife Lenore as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in the Portsmouth and Norfolk, Virginia areas.
She will be missed very much by all her family and friends who knew her as a warm, kind, loving, and generous person; blessed with courage, dignity, integrity, intelligence, and grace in handling whatever came along in life. Theresa's interests include reading history, antiques, interior decorating, needlepoint embroidery, cooking, music, movies, and the theater. She loved long walks on the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and Virginia and loved collecting seashells.
Her family is happy she has passed onto a loving God in Heaven and all are sure she will find love, joy, comfort and beauty as well as God's blessings there.
Funeral services will be held at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to come join Theresa's celebration of life. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
