Viola Margaret Gough Madigan, 87, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at her home in New Bern. She was born in Washington, DC on April 5, 1931 to the late Leon and Mary Gough. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ruth Davidson.
Her education included graduating from High School in Munich Germany and starting college in Tokyo, Japan where one of her classmates is the current Empress. She worked with the CIA for over 23 years. She was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she served as a former Eucharistic Minister to the sick and homebound. Viola read on the radio with the Radio Reading Service for the Visually Impaired, volunteered at the RCS Soup Kitchen and CarolinaEast Medical Center.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Mary Corado and son, Leo; six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church 3005 Country Club Rd. followed by the funeral mass at 12:00 Noon. Burial is in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
A thank you is extended to Craven County Hospice for all the services provided for Viola. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic School 3007 Country Club Rd. New Bern, NC 28562.
