Warren J. Haines Jr., 70, of New Bern, NC passed away on June 10, 2018 at the home of Reed and Jennifer Smith in Rolesville NC. He was born in New Bern to Warren Lavern Haines Sr. and Marie Nassef Haines. Warren was a member of the New Bern Jaycees, worked at the NCDOT for over 40 years, and coached soccer with New Bern Area teams. After retirement, Warren enjoyed substitute teaching at New Bern High School, where he was a graduate. He had a passion for tennis.
Warren is survived by his children, Jennifer and husband Reed Smith, Jason Haines and fiancè Tara Jamison, and Jeremy Haines; grandchildren, Emma Grace Smith, Evan Alexander Smith, Addilyn Diane Haines, Cora Marie Haines, Kane Takeshi Gupton and Cassie Marie Ireland. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Lee Haines, siblings: John William Haines and Marie Ann Casey, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Paul Catholic Church, 504 Middle Street, New Bern NC on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 12:00pm (noon) with Father Dan Oschwald celebrant. Warren will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery, 3005 Country Club Rd, New Bern NC. There will be a gathering afterwards at County Biscuit, 809 Broad Street, New Bern NC.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made in Warren's name to Duke Cancer Institute 710 W Main Street, Suite 200, Durham, NC 27701 or , 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis TN 38105.
