William Joseph Kiely


NEW BERN - William Joseph Kiely, 77, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2013, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

He was born in Hartford, Conn. in 1936. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1974. He fought in the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Kiely; sons, William "Billy" Kiely Jr., Rodell "Dell" Kiely and Glenn Kiely, all of New Bern; brothers, Jimmy Kiely and Johnny Kiely; and sisters, Cathy Hollister, Delores Plis, Nancy Gally, Jane Simmons, and Patty Barcomb; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

His memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at VFW Post 2514, 3850 Butler Road, New Bern.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to VFW Post 2514, P.O. 3196, New Bern, NC 28564.
