William Guion Obituary
William was educated in the New Bern Public School System and attended St. Augustine College in Raleigh. William worked in the New Bern City School System for several years. He was a recruiter for compensatory education program at Craven Community College. He was a member of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry Board, The Men's Guild and as an usher.
His funeral will be conducted 12 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Lynn C. Peterman, officiating. Burial will follow in New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Foster Guion of the home; one son, Michael T. Guion of Austell, Ga.; one daughter, Sonya Guion Catilana of Bergen, N.Y.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. three sisters, Janice G. Furman of Teaneck, N.J., Goldie G. Overton of Santa Ana, Ca. and Barbara G. James of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends at the residence. The Litany will be held at Oscar's Mortuary Monday, May 30, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. with The Rev. Marquita Hutchins, officiating. Online condolences are accepted at oscarsmortuary.com.
