NEW BERN - Bette Anne Meyers Germain, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, daughter and friend passed to eternal life on Tuesday January 21, 2014, at age 77. Bette was born at the Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY to Robert and Dorothy Meyers on April 17, 1936. She grew up in Syosset, NY, as well as Brookville, NY, and later moved back to Syosset to raise her family.
Bette was a member of the Young Republicans Club, where she met her Husband Alfred. They married, had two wonderful sons, Robert and Richard, and resided in Syosset, NY where Bette was a homemaker and later a legal secretary. They were active members of the Syosset Community Church, enjoyed playing bridge and golfing. Bette was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, and scored a 'Hole in One' at the Dix Hills Golf Club in Commack, Long Island.

Bette and Al eventually retired to New Bern, NC, in 1992. They joined the Centenary Methodist Church and became a part of that community. In April of 1997, Bette was awarded a certificate of excellence for writing an outstanding column titled "Anything Germane" in the Greenbrier Gazette.
Bette is predeceased by her loving husband Alfred, and her beloved sons Robert, and Richard who died unexpectedly on January 3, 2014. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth R. Meyers of Centerport, LI, NY; nephew, Keith Meyers of Huntington, LI, NY; niece, Kari Covello, husband, Anthony, and their children Sofia and Jax of Mahwah, NJ; daughter-in-law, Dana Levy Germain, and grandchildren, Ryker, Alegra, Ellery, and Davis; as well as her friend and companion Edmund Duncan of Syosset, NY.
