NEW BERN - Jeanne Rhodes Douglass, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2014. She was born on October 3, 1926 to the late Honorable Hughes Jennings and Ethel Hotchkiss Rhodes in Burlington, NC. Jeanne graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1944 and Peace College in 1947, and then married Harry Wooten Douglass on June 5, 1948. Jeanne worked for the New Bern City Schools, in the front office, from 1972 – 1992, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of New Bern. She was preceded in death by her Sisters, Mildred Rhodes Smith and Helen Rhodes Dellinger, Brothers, Hughes Jennings Rhodes, Jr. and Gordon E Rhodes.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 31, 2014 at 2:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Pollock-Best Funeral Home, with Dr. Richard D. Seagle officiating. Jeanne is survived by her loving husband Harry; her children, Jeanne Douglass Huhn, and husband Paul; and William Campbell Douglass, Sr. and wife Melanie; her grandchildren, Melissa Robbins Eatherington, and husband Robert; John B. Robbins II and William Campbell Douglass, Jr.. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Holly, Lance and Genevieve Eatherington; her brother, Donald D. Rhodes and her sister, Emily Rhodes Conn.
