NEW BERN | Allan Hans Johnson, 67, of Carolina Pines, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at his home. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on November 25, 1946, "Al" joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1965 and served with honor and distinction for 20 years. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps, he also worked for many years with Rose Brothers Furniture in Havelock. He was a member of the Fraternity of Free and Ancient Masons, the Scottish Rite, and the Shrine. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League, Fleet Reserve Association, and the Down East Coalition for American Veterans. One of his greatest thrills was to play "Santa Claus" each year for the HOGS (Harley Owners) group of New Bern on their annual toy ride.
Allan is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Marsha Henry Johnson of the home; three sons, Dean Johnson of Missouri, Adam Johnson of Indiana, and Stacy Baxter of New Bern; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Pollock-Best Funerals & Cremations. Following the visitation, there will be a celebrations of Al's life at "Friends Billiards and Pub" in Havelock.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a contribution be made in Al's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4200 Morganton Road, Suite 300, Fayetteville, NC 28314,
