HAVELOCK | Wilbur "Bill" Leigh Young Jr., 83, of Havelock, died at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp and U.S. Air Force and he was honored with medals for the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Bill shot for the pistol team and he enjoyed boating and hunting. He was a member of the VFW. He is preceded in death by a son, Kenny Earl Young, and his brother and sister, Mike and Jackie.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pansy; one son, Terry Young of Havelock; a daughter, Debby Guthrie of Kinston; his grandchildren, Jesse, Adrienna, Joshua, Kenny, Carity, Jeremiah, Merry-Fith, and his great-grandchildren, Lief, Sierra, Joey, Brian, Amani, Jionni, Kimberleigh-Grace.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Cotten Chapel, New Bern. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be held at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
