NEW BERN | Geneva Cox Lupton, 91, of New Bern, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Born in Beaufort County in 1923 to the late Joseph Thomas Cox and Lucy Bennett Cox, she was the sixth of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. Both of her parents passed away at an early age and Geneva helped care for her two younger siblings until they became adults. Growing up on a farm, she learned the value of hard work, never shying away from responsibility. In 1944, she married Samuel Adolph Lupton and they shared almost 39 years of marriage together before his passing in 1983. A skilled seamstress, Geneva worked for Sagner's Sewing Room and Hudson's Sewing Room for many years before her retirement and continued to mend clothes for her family and friends. In 1984, Geneva left the "old homeplace" where she had grown up and made her home for over 60 years and moved to New Bern. While in New Bern, she enjoyed having weekly yard sales with her friends and volunteering with the Coastal Women's Shelter at the "Helping Hands" Thrift Store. A strong woman of faith, she served The Lord faithfully for many years and deeply loved her church family at Tree of Life Ministries.
The Guest Book is expired.
