GREENVILLE - Mrs. Mattie Worthington Dail, 88, daughter of the late Henry and Eula Smith Worthington, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012.

Services will be private.

Mrs. Dail was a native of Craven County. When she was 16, she traveled to Washington, D.C. to work for the military intelligence division. For 32 years she was employed with Cherry Point Marine Air Corps Base as a digital computer systems administrator, retiring February 8, 1980. She was incredibly proud of her work and achievements and was the only female to reach G-12 status. She continued her education throughout her entire career. Mrs. Dail was a member of Epworth and Chapman's United Methodist Church. A major NASCAR enthusiast, she was an extremely generous lady, who put others first.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Preston Dail; sisters, Ada and Ida Barrow; grandchildren, Christy Edge, Victoria Elizabeth and Matthew Garrett Dail; and a daughter in-law, Rebecca Lee Dail.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Dail-Mohammadi and husband Amir of Greenville; sons, Bill Dail of Goldsboro and Lewis Dail of Gates, N.C.; granddaughters, Kassie Bryan of Greenville and Angela Hill of Kinston; and a sister, Fay Worthington of Ayden.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Greenville.
