ARAPAHOE - Samuel Taylor Sr., 94, of 5669 Janiero Road, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at his residence.
He was a World War II veteran and a retired carpenter. His membership at Small's Chapel Christian Church included serving on the Trustee Board.
His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Small's Chapel Christian Church, 2672 Don Lee Road, Arapahoe with the Rev. Roderick Kornegay, pastor. The interment will follow in the Crawford Cemetery with military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Willa Taylor of the home; seven sons, Henry Taylor of Arapahoe, Samuel Taylor Jr. of Manor, Texas, Earl Taylor of the home, Gary Taylor of Arapahoe, Marty Taylor of New Bern, Wyatt Taylor of Reelsboro and Willie Gibbs of Northford, Conn.; three daughters, the Rev. Brenda Ann Taylor of New Bern, Gwendolyn Parks Burke of New Haven, Conn., Martha Taylor McMillan of Marston; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be held from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, at Oscar's Mortuary.
