NEW BERN - Anna Marie Cason Brooker, 57, died Feb. 22, 2013, with her daughter by her side. Anna was born Feb. 22, 1956, in Newport, Rhode Island to Ken Cason, and Cecile Marie Fitzgerald Cason. She was the eldest of three children. Anna graduated from Fort Defiance High School and attended classes at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College. She dated and later married Clarence Jacob Brooker, Jr. on May 1, 1976.

She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Her career was varied from delivering mail for the U.S. Post Office, sales associate at Wild Birds Unlimited and the Village Butcher, finally as the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at St. Paul's Catholic School. Her interests included her family and friends, reading, caring for and loving her school children, gardening, and enjoying her birds.

Anna is survived by her husband, Clarence Jacob Brooker Jr. of New Bern, N.C.; one daughter, Leah Marie Flowers and husband, Sean Flowers of New Bern, N.C.; one son, Daniel Jacob Brooker and wife, Catherine Breece Looney Brooker of Raleigh, N.C.; two granddaughters, Charlotte Marie Flowers of New Bern and Madelyn Breece Brooker of Raleigh, N.C.; one grandson, Tristan Jacob Brooker of Raleigh, N.C.; parents, Ken Cason and Cecile Marie Fitzgerald Cason of Verona, Va.; brother, Kenny Cason and wife Donna Cason, their daughters Laura and Christina Cason, and son, Steven Cason and his wife Polly Arey Cason, of Verona, Va.; sister, Teresa Cason and sister in-law Lynda Schepler of Millsboro, Del.; brothers-in-law, Steve Brooker and Gary Burgart of Oxford, N.C.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Oscar's Mortuary and other times at the family home.

Her funeral Mass is 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with Monsignor Gerald Lewis, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Paul's Catholic School 3007 Country Club Road New Bern, NC 28562 or IHM Sisters Retirement Fund – IHM Center 2300 Adams Avenue Scranton, PA 18509.
