TRENTON - Almeta Smith Baines, 85, of 108 Gibbs Lane, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at her residence.
She was a native of Cove City and member of Bryant Chapel AME Zion Church where she was a mother and deaconess.
Her funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Bryant Chapel AME Zion Church with the Rev. Brian Cornelius, pastor. Burial will follow at Bryant Chapel Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, William Baines of Queens, N.Y.; five daughters, Mary Lamb of Lawrenceville, Ga., Alice Blair of Yonkers, N.Y., Della B. Brown of Richlands, Rebecca Cisse of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Joyce Jones of Trenton; four brothers, Issac Smith of White Plains, N.Y., Jessie Smith of New York, N.Y., Dennis Smith of Columbia, S.C., Clarence Smith of Vanceboro; three sisters, Gladys Jerkins of Trenton, Annie Roberson of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Ellen Grace Smith of White Plains, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Oscars' Mortuary and at the church one hour prior to the service.
