VANCEBORO - Mrs. Margaret Fillingame Mills, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at her home.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville.
Mrs. Mills, a native of the Vanceboro community of Craven County, lived in Washington for 16 years, and made her home back near Vanceboro in 1977. She worked for Sagners in New Bern and Sampson Shirt Factory in Washington for a number of years. She was a member of the Family Life Tabernacle.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her parents, Davis and Ida Mae Fillingame; and a sister, Brenda Gay Fillingame.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Grover Mills, Jr.; sisters, Hazel Mae Clark, of Belvoir, and Geneva Fillingame, of Vanceboro; brothers, Jimmy Fillingame, of Belvoir, and Franklin Fillingame and wife, Marie, of Vanceboro; nieces and nephews, Anthony Fillingame, Sheila Wall, Tina Bryan, Jessica Anderson, Audrey Moody, Linda Smith, Janie Oakley, Diane Peaden, Audie Clark, and Walter Clark; and a number of great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
