Benjamin Franklin Canady Jr.


NEW BERN - Benjamin Franklin Canady Jr., 66, died Sept. 28, 2013, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

He served his country as a fire fighter in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of New Bern Chapter of Gideons International, he was the publisher and editor of "Our Changing Times" magazine and he was a member of Bridgeton Pentecostal Holiness Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church. He served in the Prison Ministry.

He is survived by his wife Annette; two sons, Scott and Shane Canady, both of Georgia; one daughter, Shannon Ann Canady of Trenton; his mother, Grace Canady of New Bern; three sisters, Shannon Canady, Rebecca Cooley and Regina Boyd, all of New Bern; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Dixon and Dr. Scott Gleason officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
