NEWBERRY — Margaret Hendrix Leopard, 77, of Newberry, died Tuesday, February 10, 2014 at her residence.
Born on October 22, 1936 in Laurens County, she was the daughter of the late J. Farley and Inez Godfrey Hendrix.
Mrs. Leopard was an active member of West End Baptist Church, the Women's Missionary Union, and she was a former Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was the former owner of Me-mocks Day Care.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Hollingsworth of Cayce and Starr Hockett (Jay) of Prosperity; grandchildren, Tori Hollngsworth, Jessica "Jessi" Hockett and David Hockett; a great grandchild, Logan Meyer; brother L. Earl Hendrix (Pat) of Union; a number of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John A. Leopard; by children, Buffy Marie Leopard and Johnette Leopard; and brothers, Fred Hendrix and Harold Hendrix.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. David Lyles and the Rev. Timothy Thompson.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
Memorials are suggested to West End Baptist Church, 620 Main St Newberry, SC 29108.
