Mildred Vaughn Amick

PROSPERITY — Mildred Vaughn Amick, 90, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at White Oak Manor.

Born on February 19, 1924 in Prosperity, she was the daughter of the late Herman W. Vaughn and Beulah Mae Morris Vaughn.

Mrs. Amick was a true woman of faith in Jesus Christ and an active member of Macedonia Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a member of the Macedonia Goldies.

Mrs. Amick worked for many years in the clothing department at Belk's in Newberry. She was an excellent seamstress, homemaker and cook, who loved flowers. Most importantly, to her family she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was truly a kind person and always put others before herself.

She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Seber Ray Amick; a daughter, Janet Amick Brannon (Michael) of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Jennifer Broome (Chris) and Jessica Mast (P.J.); great- grandchildren, Camron Bannister, Landon Broome, Catherine Mast, Elizabeth Mast, and one great-grandchild on the way; and a sister, Amanda Vaughn Kunkle of Prosperity.

She was predeceased by a son, David Ray Amick; sisters, Doris Vaughn Fulmer and Bonnie Louise Vaughn; and brothers, Herman Vaughn Jr., and Lester Morris Vaughn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randall Derrick. Interment will be at Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends following the interment.

Pallbearers will be Chris Broome, P.J. Mast, Michael Brannon, Camron Bannister, Henry Auton, and Leon Fulmer, Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Macedonia Goldies. Memorials are suggested to Macedonia Goldies, 49 Macedonia Church Rd, Prosperity, SC 29127.
