NEWBERRY — Willie O. Crumpton, 82, of Rio Rancho, N.M. formerly of Newberry died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 in Rio Rancho.
He was born on May 10, 1931 in Pomaria, a son of the late Walter A. and Genevia Long Crumpton.
Mr. Crumpton retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. He was proud of his work with the Seabees and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Willett of Rio Rancho, N.M. and Lisa Jepsen of Petaluma, Calif.; 2 sons, Eddie Crumpton of Rio Rancho and Dan Willett of Petaluma, Calif.; 4 grandchildren, Joseph Willett, Marlayna Willett, Christopher Jepsen and Scott Jepsen; a sister, Corrie Davenport of Summerville; a brother Walter J. Crumpton of Columbia; the mother of his children, Rose Crumpton of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Rebecca Koon and Juanita Harris.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Interment with military honors will be in St. Philips Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
