POMARIA — Funeral services for Mr. Joe Nathan Lane will be conducted on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark AME Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Lane passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at MUSC-Ashley River Towers in Charleston. Born in Pomaria, he was the son of the late John Waymon Lane and the late Doreather Williams Lane.
He was a member of St. Mark AME Church. Mr. Lane was employed with the New York City Transit for nearly 30 years where he received numerous awards and commendations and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Epifania R. Lane of the home; daughters, Alisa Gale Bivines of Columbia; Dr. Tameka Lane Felton (Herman) of Salisbury, N.C.; Dr. Anastacia Lane of Charleston; Sybil Straite of Fairburn, Ga.; sons, Darryl Lane (Valerie) of Columbia; Dr. Shakeem K. Lane of Washington, D.C.; Elliott Straite of Woodlands Hill, Calif.; sisters, Ida Roena Williams of Alverne, New York; Carrie L. Hendrix (Clifton) of Blair; Mary Love of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, William H. Lane (Eunice) of Pomaria; John E. Lane (Ann) of Newberry; Ervin Lane (Sallie) of Pomaria; three grandchildren, Kayan Cobb, Ariana Harris and James Herman Felton, III; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
