NEWBERRY — Funeral service for Ms. Margie "Honey" Florence Walker Dewalt, will be conducted on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Lexington, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Dewalt passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 1, 1934 in Cayce, SC, to the late Mrs. Susanna Kelly Green and Fletcher Green Walker. She was married to the late Jessie Adams Dewalt.
Before her illness, "Honey" enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and caring for her nieces and nephews. Her hobby was sewing, she especially loved quilting and making unique crafts for her home.
"Honey," as she was affectionately named by her father, lived her early childhood in Cayce, SC and grew up in Newberry, SC under the care of her maternal aunt, Shirley Young.
Ms. Dewalt leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Earnestine Dewalt of Prosperity, SC, and Mary Catherine Chiles of Columbia, SC; six nieces, Mary E. Hutcherson, Betty Jean Glasgow, Phyllis D. Dewalt, and Tammie L. Dewalt, all of Prosperity, SC, Yolanda A. Chiles of Houston, TX, and Shamora A. Chiles of Columbia, SC; four nephews, Fletcher C. Walker, James Dewalt, Jr., and Sherman Dewalt, all of Prosperity, SC, and Ronald A. Chiles of Columbia, SC; and one brother-in-law, James Edward Dewalt of Prosperity, SC; in addition to cousins and friends.
