Mary Cook "Mama Big" Caldwell
NEWBERRY — Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Cook "Mama Big" Caldwell, 74, will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Caldwell passed away on Saturday, Dec.14, 2013 at Palmetto Health Richland. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late George Reid and the late Fannie Mae Cook Thacker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Church.
Mrs. Caldwell was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Caldwell, Sr.; brother, Johnny Brown; grandson, Tony Bernard Price.
Surviving are daughters, Geraldine Price (Dexter); Willie Mae Cook, Marilyn Caldwell all of Newberry; Donna Caldwell of the home; sons, Larry Cook (Annette) of Newberry; James R. Cook of the home; Aaron Robinson of Columbia; Randy Caldwell (Deatrice) of Newberry; Phillip Caldwell, Jr. (Patrice) of Columbia; Johnnie L. Caldwell (Joyce); Cecil Caldwell (Shonda) all of Charlotte, N.C.; David Caldwell of the home; sisters, Mildred V. Harmon; Bobbie J. Houston both of Newberry; Rosalyn McKenzie (Owen) of New York, N.Y.; brother, Thomas Brown of Newberry; friend, Johnny Chapman; fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two aunts, one uncle, three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at 462 Foxbriar Road, Newberry, SC.
