Willie Mae Eargle

POMARIA — Willie Mae "Wul" Summer Eargle, 98, widow of Palmer Shealy Eargle, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Springfield Place.

Born on October 3, 1915, in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late William David and Mattie Berley Summer. Mrs. Eargle was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was involved with WELCA, was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years, and a former choir member. She was a life member of the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. "Wul" loved gardening and in her younger years enjoyed hunting and fishing. She truly loved her church and the many children she taught in Sunday School.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Mathis of Springfield Place; a brother, W.D. (Mertice) Summer, Jr. of Cayce and many nieces and nephews including special nephew, Jimmy Johnston of Pomaria. Mrs. Eargle was predeceased by a sister, Leola Johnston Eargle.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church by the Rev. Derald Edwards. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 622 Hope Station Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.

Active pallbearers will be Rodger Eargle, Neil Huffstetler, Steven Mathis, Chris Johnston, Jamie Johnston and Kert Summer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Myra Berley, Evelyn Nichols, Marie Bostain, Elsa and Ron Hope, Merlee Stuck, Eula Mae Nolff, Sarah Boland, Helen Kiker, Dr. Carroll Pinner and Tri County Hospice.
