NEWBERRY — Janie Ina Davis Warren of Newberry, 89, joined her beloved family in heaven on Monday, Aug. 25.

She was the widow of Nathan Burton (N.B.) Warren, Jr.

Mrs. Warren was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Newberry, a daughter of the late Munson P. and Janie Thomasson Davis.

She graduated from Newberry High School in 1941, and in 1943 she graduated from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse.

Her nursing career began as a member of the U.S. Cadet Nursing Corps from 1942 to 1945 at Camp Croft. When World War II ended, she was caring for wounded soldiers in Washington, D.C., but she soon returned home because she missed her family.

Mrs. Warren then cared for patients at Newberry County Memorial Hospital, where she retired after 32 years as a general duty nurse and supervisor. Even in her retirement, she continued to work part-time in the hospital pharmacy.

Her lifetime of service to her profession and to her family provides a powerful witness to her faith. Mrs. Warren was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church, where she attended the Ezell Bible Class.

Mrs. Warren is survived by: daughter Margaret (Biff) Riebe, son David (Macey) Warren, and daughter Beverly (Danny) Williams; grandchildren Jenny Riebe (Steve) Hamilton, Jonathan Riebe, Will (Melinda) Warren, Sarah Warren, Morgan Willliams; and great-grandchildren Gracyn Hamilton, Anna Warren, and Katelyn Timmons; sister Eva James Wherry; and a host of nieces and nephews to whom she was affectionately known as "Aunt Sis."

Mrs. Warren was predeceased by: her husband, her granddaughter Lane Williams, brother Neal Davis, and sisters Margaret Davis Carlisle and Annie Laurie Davis Graham.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Whitaker Funeral Home.
