Robert J. ""Bob"" Metelko

Robert "Bob" J. Metelko, age 88, a 50 year Mentor resident, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Emeritus in San Dimas, San Dimas, Calif.
He was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Cleveland.
Bob was a car dealership owner and car salesman in the local area for 38 years. He was a graduate of Collinwood High School, class of 1943 and attended John Carroll University. He served in the U.S. Naval Service during World War II from 1943 to 1946 as an aviation radioman on the Avenger Night Torpedo Squad on the U.S.S. Independence in the Asiatic-Pacific conflict.
Bob enjoyed life with friends and especially family and always had a positive attitude, great sense of humor, and a caring personality. He was an avid golfer loved to go to casino's and loved to watch sports on T.V.
Survivors include his sons; Gary (Maureen) Metelko of Mentor and Scott (Sheila) Metelko of Kirtland; granddaughters, Caitlin (Fiance, Corey Kurilko) Metelko, Shannon and Brittany Metelko; his 20 year companion, Marjorie Arbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bob in death is his wife, Theresa (Cichon) Metelko; parents, Joseph and Julia Metelko; and brothers, Ray and Rudy Metelko.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, August 25. The service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH. 44060. A reception and celebration of Bob's life will follow from 5 to 7 pm in the Reception Center on the Brunner Campus.
A private burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
