Arline Brockway Obituary

Arline K. (Metzger) Brockway, 92, of Claridon Township, entered into eternal life June 15, 2013.
Mrs. Brockway was born March 17, 1921, in Cleveland, and moved to Geauga County at the age of 12. She was a graduate of Thompson High School and had been a resident of Claridon Township for 67 years.
Arline married Loren Jr. Brockway on May 17, 1941, in Chardon. She worked at Snapout Forms in the binding department during World War II. At the end of the war, she was a homemaker for 12 years before returning to work as a secretary for Claridon Elementary School for 21 years, retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Brockway was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Munson. She enjoyed card playing and along with her husband, Loren, was an active participant in the ""Over the Hill"" gang and their monthly gatherings. She loved working in her flower gardens and making her jams and applesauce. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. She always watched her soaps and the Indians games on TV. She was known as Grandma ""B"" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is remembered fondly for her readiness to lend a hand with baby-sitting.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Gene) Chapman of Claridon Township; sons, David L. (Jacqueline) of Claridon Township, Jerome R. (Bonnie) of Jefferson and Brian A. (Carol) of Claridon Township; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; parents, Walter Metzger and Katherine (Ardnt) Glover; and brother, Alvin Metzger.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Peace Lutheran Church, 12686 Bass Lake Road, Chardon, with Pastor Curtis A. May officiating. Burial will follow at Claridon Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon (500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square).
