Funeral services for William David Anderson, 78, of Fairport Harbor, will be noon Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
Mr. Anderson passed away Sept. 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born Oct. 27, 1934, in McKeesport, Pa., to the late Thomas and Catharine (McNeely) Anderson.
Mr. Anderson had a lifelong interest in printing, journalism and photography. He had worked at The News-Herald as a copy setter, Neal Printing, Sears Hardware in Mentor and also as a police officer with the Geneva-on-the-Lake Police Department.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Roma (Shupe); son, David "Jerry" (LuAnn); daughters, Wendy Crisostomo and Beth (Kevin) Mac Knight; grandchildren, April Frazier, Tiffany Crisostomo, Anthony Anderson, Amanda Robinson, Melissa Mac Knight, Hillary Anderson and Eric Crisostomo; and great-grandchildren, Shaylee Frazier, Kelsey Frazier and Noah Lopez. He also leaves his sister, Amy Rolf; and brother, Thomas (Shirley) Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roy L. Anderson; and brother-in-law, Jack Rolf.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110-2602.

I love you opa i miss you...i am having a horrible time accepting that you have moved on...but i know you are not hurting anymore..i hope you are at peace now and i hope you know how much i wanted to be there today and tomorrow for you...please understand that with Noah i just can't be...i had eric give you something from me and Noah..i hope you like it..i am trying to think of good times we shared but it just makes me more sad that i don't have you to talk about those times with...i pray that god takes care of you and i pray that you are safe...and i know you know i am always thinking of you..and i am anxiously awaiting the day when our paths will cross once again...you are forever in my heart opa..i love you

My grampa my friend my opa i miss you..i had eric give you something special from noah and me i hope you like it..i am sorry i could not be in ohio with you today and tomorrow..i hope you understand...i pray you are no longer hurting and i pray you are at peace...i can't stop thinking of everything we did together when i was little...ice cream...walking to the convienent store because i was too little to go alone...i used to hate when you would pick me up from school and jam out to classical music because you were funny like that...but i would let you come pick me up again in a heartbeat if it meant i could see you again alive and well...please don't forget me or noah we love you more than you will ever know...and i know you heard me on the phone that morning so thank you for letting me know...take care of yourself up there in heaven and make sure to check in once in a while..
