James C. McConnell Memorial services for James C. McConnell, 79, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Grace Church of Mentor, 6883 Reynolds Road, Mentor. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Timothy J. Potter will officiate at the service. Mr. McConnell passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Born July 20, 1933, in Bedford, Ind., he had lived in Mentor-on-the-Lake for the past 36 years. He was a member of Grace Church of Mentor. He was also a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree and his Master of Arts degree, both in education. Mr. McConnell taught at Mentor Christian School and after retirement from education, he continued his career in the real estate field. Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Nancy (Jung); children, Daniel (Kathy) McConnell of Simpsonville, S.C., Robert (Marie) McConnell of Dalzell, S.C., Catherine (Tom) McConnell-Ewing of Pensacola, Fla., and Peggy (Michael) Henderson of Mentor; and grandchildren, Robert Jr., Elizabeth, Steven, Jacob, Lauren and Brenden. Davis-Babcock Funeral Home in Willoughby is privileged to serve the family.
